Good Saturday morning
*** Don't Forget---Tomorrow is our Annual Mission's Conference.
Join us at 10:00am as we see what the Lord is doing through Hope Christian Fellowship throughout the world.
I want to drop a little thought for you to meditate on today. It's in the area of "PRAYER".
Most people saved and unsaved pray but sometimes out of habit and not from the heart.
Some pray religiously before they eat, or go to bed. Some pray over their children as they go to school or as they leave for a vacation spot. All these are great times of prayer and we must continue with them.
But have you ever thought about what prayer is meant for and what it does every time you pray?
Prayer must be taken seriously, never as an obligation but as an honor. You see prayer brings you and me before the throne of Almighty God. Don't take that lightly. There must be a reverence to our time of prayer.
In Matthew, Jesus was asked by His disciples to teach them to Pray. He does so and gives us a pattern to pray in such a manner. That prayer was never intended to just be recited but a pattern to follow.
Let me answer the 2 questions I posed earlier.
1- What is it meant for?
There is more than what I am going to give you here, but Prayer is meant to get you and me to give attention to God the Father. Attention to Him for He is the only one who can deliver us for the need we are praying for. It puts our dependence on HIM.
2- What does prayer do each time you pray?
That situation you are praying about is greater than you or me. If it wasn't we would just solve it and get on with life. But what prayer does is INVITE GOD into our situation so we can cast it onto Him so we will not be distracted by it.
There is Nothing too hard for God we are told in scripture, so as we share with God our concern, it becomes His concern at that moment. We release it by faith to Him who is more than able to resolve our situation.
I know those were short answers. They will suffice for now.
So, how is your prayer life?
We have started something new here at Hope that will interest you in this area of Prayer. Beginning this Tuesday October 28th at 6:30 pm, we will have a time of prayer for the whole church to be a part of. I invite you to come and join us.
It will be held every last Tuesday of each month.
Blessing to you.
